The importance of engaging employees in social media

While I have never really thought much about social media and how to use it in businesses, this class has opened my eyes to the many advantages of forming social media procedures in the work place. It is a very fast and efficient way of getting information out there to your staff and co-workers. Anything thing from a company meeting or seminar or a new procedure to follow any thing that needs to be relayed to the employees of the company can be right there for everyone to see on the company blog. While this is a fairly new idea of connecting with employees and getting information out there, but it is a way that can greatly benefit a company. In terms of getting everyone on board there are many things that can lead to an easy transition in getting a company involved in social media such as having a social media 101 course or rewarding people who take part in the blogs with incentives that will get people to want to engage and participate in the blog more, like stated in the "7 ways to turn employees into Brand Ambassadors".

Along with getting information more readily to employees,as stated in Companies Are Erecting In-House Social Network", it will also prevent from "email clutter" by instead of getting an email about everything like meeting , procedure, etc. having a general company blog would just overall benefit a company in many ways.
