YouTube, ..iTube

Myself, Rachel Emily and Anthony explored the world of YouTube last class and we found out it is more than just uploading videos here and there.

YouTube is a great tool for social media and developing your own brand name in the social media world.

Yes, there are exceptions to YouTube as there is exceptions to everything, which can be the embarrassing video here and there that can really damage a person, but for the most part YouTube actually do more good than bad.

Take Justin Beiber for instance, he is where he is now all due to YouTube. He started uploading videos from when he was quite young, and someone from the industry noticed him and now he's a phenomenon.

Many other celebrities use YouTube to their advantage and promote themselves as anyone else would.

Celebrities aren't the only ones using YouTube to their advantage. Companies use YouTube by advertising themselves for free. Take the SuperBowl commercials. The commercial with the child as Darth Vader and the car got a crazy amount of hits on YouTube after it was aired.

Anyone can upload videos to the website. Which is nice for those who like to share videos with family, friends or use it much like a blog, but instead of writing it, they speak it.

We have learned that is so much more to people as a social media tool than we had just thought it as a fun excuse to upload funny videos of each other.

It's not common that someone hasn't heard or have been on the actual website but if you haven't check it out.. youtube.com !

Thanks

  1. Well it's true. Celebrities aren't the only people using or being posted on YouTube.

I am here to let everyone know the small dangers of having a tool like YouTube.

In the day and age of viral videos and cell phone cameras/ video recorders, we must be a little more careful in our actions.

Let's look at one point in case.

On a ski trip to Wyoming this past year, a girl in the group got too drunk and passed out in a common house area (AKA the living room)

The boys in the group thought it would be funny to play tricks on her while she was inebriated to the fullest extent.

They also caught it on video.

    The lesson here??

Please exercise more discretion and class while out in this day and age where everything you do will likely end up on YouTube.

The poor girl tried to retaliate with legal recourse; however, the law has not quite caught up with the technology and there wasn't much she could do to stop the video from being casted out on the internet.

If you are at all curious about these videos, they are indeed still on YouTube, and you can look them up.

One is called Blue Drank, the other Super Drunk Girl

    Both posted by jrockm13

Let me reiterate... Please use discretion in the world where everything will eventually end up on YouTube.
