Rapper T.I. and producer Pharrell |
..and videos, 1,000,000.
RapRadar's author mainly communicates using it's content and link to star power.
The words the author says is usually a descriptive joke or pun that plays off whatever is posted, followed by promotion for the artist's latest project.
Case in point, Juicy J. ft. Alley Boy - I Don't Play With Guns
The author talks about how Juicy J and Alley Boy won't be busting guns, but they'll be working hard on Juicy J's 'Blue Dreams and Lean' project.
Jid's thoughts
I don't think the author can really do much more. As a follower of the blog, I go to RapRadar for the content. I usually don't even notice the words under the video or whatever.
It's effective because the blog is based on the content, not the blogger trying to be a star...which is why some blogs fail. The pics and vids speak for themselves.

For Ms. Richman's comments..
-I do think it would be pretty cool if the author actually posted comments, or responded to them.
Even though the music blogs of the internet can be nasty places, more and more people would come to the blog knowing that the author is actively communicating with them. Especially an author like YN, who is the former Editor-In-Chief of XXL...a popular hip hop magazine.
But he probably couldn't do that due to the fact that Hip-Hop is now a business, and the wrong comment or impression can mess up things on the business side for him.
Artists telling their fans not to go to that blog or promoting another blog due to disrespect on another one isn't a farfetched scenario.
Catch 22.
Majid,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the posting. It's a good one - with great links and and bolding key points.
Take a look at your headline and make sure it goes with your story. I think you can be more specific.
As far as what the author can do more or different ... consider what the individual can do to promote it or respond to messages (if there's nothing content wise they can do).
Thanks
